Amos is Ten Months Old!

Age of Baby: 10 months

Size of Baby:
Hmm, funnel cake is pretty amazing.
Why have I not had this until now, guys?!?
  • Weight: 17 lbs 6 oz (still at the 3rd percentile), +14 oz from last month
  • Length: 28 inches (down to the 25th percentile), no change from last month
  • Head circumference: not measured
  • Height-to-Weight ratio: up to the 10th percentile
Amos is still wearing a size 3 diaper and mostly 9-12 month, or 12-month, clothes. He still wears a size 3 shoe.

Immunizations:

None this month.

Doctor's Visit Summary:

No visit this month.

Picture of Baby:

Here is Amos's 10-month picture in the 12-month onesie. It was "fun" trying to wrangle him into laying still for a pic this month! Yikes! This boy wants to be on the move 24/7.

And here is a comparison of all three of the boys at ten months, just for fun. Ethan and Noah were still bigger at this point (Ethan was 28.5 inches long and weighed 18 lbs 10 oz and Noah was 28 inches long and weighed 19 lbs 2 oz), but it looks like Amos may finally be closing the gap a bit.

Ethan, Noah, and Amos (each at 10 months)

Accomplishments this Month:
  • First trip to the beach and swimming pool
  • Saying "dada"
  • Climbing the stairs
  • Standing unassisted, without holding anything, for 3-5 seconds
  • First baseball game
  • Top two front teeth emerged!
  • Love. Yes, Noah is wearing
    an Indian feather headband
    from Thanksgiving.
  • Growling
Amos was able to enjoy his first trip to a Florida beach this past month. Unfortunately, I haven't recapped the details of that trip yet, but it's safe to say that he had a great time. He appears to be the beach-loving babe that his big brothers are, too! He also really loved taking a dip in the swimming pool at the house. I think the boy could splash all day.

In addition to "mama," Amos is now saying "dada" pretty regularly, too. I definitely think that he's associating them with the correct people.

I'm officially in trouble. Amos discovered the stairs and he loves to climb them!! Without a gate on the bottom of either of our staircases, I have to watch him like a hawk, or I find him halfway up the staircase if I turn my back for a minute. Fun stuff. Not!

He has started to get brave and let go while he is standing now. He can balance for a little bit before plopping back down to his bottom. I figure it won't be long now before he attempts some steps as well.

We checked out a Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball game on a recent weekend trip to the area. Amos wasn't really interested in the game, but he did enjoy people-watching, and some of brother's snow cone. ;) He did make the big screen, though, for his first trip!! :)

Of course I had to get a pic! #pictureofapicture
Finally. Those top two front teeth finally broke through the surface at the end of this last month. I'm hoping that means a little relief for both of us now soon! Sigh. Meanwhile, I finally caved and bought an amber anklet for him to try. It's supposed to be the magical cure for teething pain. I'm undecided on if it actually works or not though. It doesn't appear to have helped his night waking at this point (nearly a week in), unless he's just made that a habit now, and maybe the teeth aren't actually bothering him anymore, and he's just waking up because that's what he's been doing for so long now?? With those teeth through the surface, I don't know if they are actually hurting anymore or not. I guess we'll continue to give it a try to see if it makes a difference at some point. He doesn't really bother it there on his ankle (amazingly), so we'll go with it!

The boys loves to growl. He growls when he's hungry. He growls when he's tired. He growls while he is eating. He growls all the time. It's pretty funny.

Blueberries are extra yummy in pancakes!
New Foods tried this Month:
  • Cauliflower
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Blueberries
  • Asparagus
  • Turkey
  • Hamburger
  • Milkshake
  • Funnel cake! (Yeah, this boy is going to have a sweet tooth like his brothers! Haha!)
Amos continues to enjoy table foods and seems to like trying new things. Veggies still seem to be his favorite, closely followed by meats. I've also continued to nurse him every 3-4 hours during the day (around 8 am, 11 am, 2 pm, 6 pm, 9 pm) for around 5-10 minutes. He has also figured out the organic baby food pouches I buy now, which is really helpful for getting him a snack while we're on the go, in the car, or at a restaurant. He can suck down that 4.2 ounces in under a minute! Wow!

Not STTN, but he's happy!
Amos had another rough month in the sleep department. He is averaging around 12 hours of sleep a day (10 hours at night and 2 hours during the day). He is still going to bed between 9 and 10 pm, and sleeping until between 7:30 and 9 am. He has continued to wake most nights this past month. It has been tougher this month, because when he wakes up, he is wide awake. I don't know if it's because he stands up and starts walking around the crib and that wakes him up more? So, after feeding him, I have to work harder to get him back to sleep before putting him back down. Needless to say, coffee has been my friend this month. He is still hit or miss on a morning nap. If he does take one, I can sometimes get him to go back down later in the afternoon for a 2nd short nap, too. I'm hoping with the emergence of his teeth, he'll start sleeping better this coming month. We shall see! He is growing up so fast and I can't believe we'll be celebrating his first birthday in just 2 short months!!
